I started coming to Farmtown because my mom saw a flyer in our grocery store and talked to me about it. I also knew that a friend of mine went to Farmtown and also liked it.
At the time, I felt out of place. At home, my parents were fighting and at school, another girl was socially bullying me. I felt like everything was against me.
When I first came to Farmtown, I didn’t know what to expect, but within a few short visits it started to feel like home. At Farmtown, I developed a new group of friends who loved me and truly supported me. I know that when I needed them, they would pray for me and I would do the same for them in a heartbeat. And the big plus most of all, is that I get to work with animals!
Learning to handle horses really helped me get over my inability to speak up. I learned that I have to speak up to be heard. This is something I still struggle with, but I’m working on it.
At Farmtown you meet these really amazing people who love you and support you unconditionally. So even if you feel like your world is crumbling down, you always have someone praying for you at Farmtown.Laurie
I saw a Farmtown flyer on the bulletin board at the local grocery store. I never look at that board but I was intrigued because my daughter isn’t athletic, she’s shy and introverted. She loves animals and I thought Farmtown would be a good fit for her. Friendships are hard for a shy introverted gentle girl like mine. She fell in love with Farmtown and everything immediately.
She was excited every week after being at the farm. She beamed and said it was “her happy place”. My 13-year-old daughter (who needed a break after unloading 4 cups from the dishwasher – true story) has the messiest room … but was mucking stalls and baling hay!!! It was also crazy cold in the winter – ridiculous, but she was happy. I was so thankful I noticed the flyer on that bulletin board!
Kelly has been so helpful to my daughter and myself. I’m so happy she has Kelly and the others at Farmtown to be able to talk with and support her. I’ve witnessed my daughter, struggle but also become a more confident girl. She’s learning tools and skills to deal with “LIFE”. I wish that I could have had this program when I was a young girl!
I was surprised by how amazing the equine therapy experience was at Farmtown. One cannot truly understand the power and influence this moment of magic can serve for each child.
Equine therapy is truly incredible and the benefits the clients were experiencing was extremely visual. It was communication unlike anything I have ever experienced. Words cannot describe the overwhelming emotion expressed in the small sanctuary of Farmtown’s fields.
With the combination of the horses and donkeys, Kelly’s expertise, and Farmtown love, these clients receive amazing care specific to their needs. This is a fantastic strategy to produce real change in the lives of all those visiting this farm.

The most important thing at Farmtown is that kids lives can be changed and improved in a matter of a week. And given the right funding we can be the place to better more and more lives … Farmtown subsidizes most kids to come and provides every support and opportunity for them to grow change and thrive. They are deserving kids and families and so grateful.Volunteer
Farmtown provides children and youth a chance to meet a horse and participate in activities with which they may not be familiar. They give hope to all kids but have a special heart for children that come from families that have struggles with income, relationships and even parenting. Farmtown provides all kids with an opportunity to learn, grow and change, and help them discover where they want to go in life. Thank you Kelly and Farmtown for all you do!Kinesiologist
